Women's Soccer Battles Rutgers to a Scoreless Double Overtime Tie

    PITTSBURGHThe University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer team battles Rutgers University to a scoreless double overtime tie Sunday afternoon at Founders Field.  The Panthers advance to 4-7-2(1-1-1 Big East), while the Scarlet Knights advance to 7-4-4 (1-1-1).    

     

    Pittsburgh Goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) earned her fourth career shutout and registered a season high 14 saves.   Panther defenders Jackie Reuter (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West), Carli Brill (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor), and midfielder Aimee Romasco (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) were key in this scoreless contest with their physical play and blocked many of the Scarlet Knights’ 25 shots. 

     

    Rutgers has gone into overtimes six of their last nine matches. 

     

    The Panthers are next in action Wednesday when the face Robert Morris at Founders Field.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
