Women's Basketball Hosts West Virginia on Wednesday Night at the Petersen Events Center

    THE GAME

    Pittsburgh attempts to snap a five-game losing skid as it hosts rival West Virginia on Wednesday night at the Petersen Events Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

    The Panthers are coming off a 49-39 setback to St. John’s on Saturday afternoon in which they shot just 26 percent from the field. Pittsburgh is also looking for its 12th win of the year, which would double last year’s total.

    West Virginia is coming off a heartbreaking 52-51 loss to Villanova on Saturday. The Mountaineers have dropped three of their past four games.

    ALL-TIME SERIES

    Saturday’s game marks the 31st meeting between Pittsburgh and West Virginia with the Mountaineers leading the all-time series, 17-13. The Mountaineers have won two straight in the series, including a season sweep of the Panthers in 2003-04. Pittsburgh is 1-1 against West Virginia in the Petersen Events Center and holds a 9-5 series advantage in games played in the Steel City. The Panthers have won three of the past four meetings in Pittsburgh, including a 67-61 triumph in the teams’ first matchup at the Panthers’ new home on Feb. 19, 2003.
