Men's Soccer Loses to Georgetown, 2-0

The Pittsburgh men's soccer team lost its fifth-straight game to nationally ranked Big East foe Georgetown in a 2-0 shutout on Oct. 11. The Panthers have been outscored 11-0 by their opponents in their last five contests. Jason Partenza had the game-winning goal for the Hoyas (ranked 11th in the nation), 11:38 into the first half. Nate Port added an insurance goal for Georgetown at 83:39. Pittsburgh was led by junior Reagan Bender (Willow Street, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) who recorded five shots. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mike Norris (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) made first Big East start of the year and recorded seven saves on the afternoon.

The Panthers fell to 4-5-2 overall, 1-5-1 in the conference. Pittsburgh takes on Big East opponent Seton Hall, ranked 14th nationally, on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers then play host to the top-ranked team in the country, Connecticut, on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Pitt Stadium.
