The loss snapped Pitt’s four-game losing streak in games played at UConn. Trailing 53-41, Pittsburgh went on a 20-3 run, including 11 consecutive points by Troutman, to pull ahead 61-56 with seven minutes remaining. Connecticut (11-4, 3-2) pulled to within 63-62 on a jumper by Denham Brown with 4:32 left before Troutman closed the contest by scoring 12 of Pittsburgh's final 15 points. Carl Krauser scored 15 points including 11 in the second half and dished out eight assists while Chris Taft added 10 for the Panthers, who held the Huskies to 28 percent (8-of-29) shooting from the floor in the second half. The Huskies were in control in the opening half and took a 43-26 lead, thanks to three 3-pointers by Rashad Anderson during a 26-9 run.
