PITTSBURGH-Behind another strong pitching performance from junior P.J. Hiser, the University of Pittsburgh baseball team completed a three-game sweep over Georgetown with a 19-0 romp on Sunday afternoon at Trees Field. The Panthers improved to 30-13-1 and 11-9 in the Big East.

Hiser (Hagerstown, Md./Hagerstown) had little trouble controlling the Hoya bats, surrendering just three hits while striking out a career-best 13 batters. In his past two starts, Hiser is 2-0 with an impressive 0.50 earned run average while striking out 23 batters and giving up just one run.

Pittsburgh got all the runs it needed in the first inning as it scored seven times. Senior Tony Railing (Highland Village, Texas/F.M. Marcus) sparked the inning with a bases-clearing double.

The Panthers added six more runs in the third inning as junior Brant Colamarino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) blasted a two-run shot over the right field fence, extending his hitting streak to 21 games. He added a grand slam, his team-leading 17th homer of the year, in the seventh inning to finish 2 for 4 with three runs and six RBIs.

Sophomore Bryan Spamer (Harrisburg, Pa./Redlands) paced the Panthers with three hits, while Andre Williams (Johnstown, Pa./Johnstown), Stuart Rykaceski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), Joe Burger (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk), Brad Rea (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Colamarino each knocked out two hits apiece. Rea broke the single-season RBI mark with his run-scoring single in the first inning. He now has 54 RBIs on the year.

Kevin Field suffered the loss for Georgetown on the mound.

Pittsburgh battles Cleveland State on Tuesday at the Cleveland Indians' Jacobs Field. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
