Feb. 24, 2006

PITTSBURGH--Pitt's men's swimming and diving team earned votes in the final 2005-06 College Swim Coaches Association (CSCAA) dual meet poll top-25 rankings, as announced by CSCAA.

Pitt finished the season 10-2 and claimed second at the Big East Championships. Seniors Tommy Bird (Charleston, W.Va./Capital) and Darryl Washington (Aldan, Pa./Penn Wood), junior Jeff Leath (Mechanicville, Va./New Community) and sophomore Jeremy Stultz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) were all Big East Champions. The Panthers remain one of two Big East teams recognized in the top-25 poll.

This season, Pitt earned convincing wins over non-conference opponents St. Bonaventure (148.5-94.5), Oakland (169-74) and Maryland (274-77) and Big East foes Syracuse (169-74), Villanova (300-48) and Cincinnati (170-63).

The Panthers' first loss of the season was in the home-opener against No. 21 Notre Dame where they battled to a nail-biting 122-121. Then, Pitt dropped its six-game win streak at Virginia, 130-111.
