Stokcton, Calif. - Pacific swimming head coach Greg Meehan has announced the signing of Joe Curley (Lafayette, Calif.) and Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.) to national letters of intent for the 2008-09 season.

Curley comes to Pacific from Diablo Valley Junior College. He will be a junior during to begin the 2008-09 season. Joe is expected to give the Tigers another multiple event swimmer as he excels in the Breast events, the sprint events and the IM.

"Joe is a real hidden talent and a great young man. His best times will already impact the Breaststroke and Sprint events, but his long term ability is unlimited. Joe's experience competing at the JC level will also help him adjust nicely to Division I swimming," said Meehan.

Walterman , meanwhile, will enter Pacific as a freshman from Framingham High School. Elena is primarily a Butterfly specialist with personal bests of 57.4 in the 100 Fly and 2:04.4 in the 200 Fly.

"Elena will be a big help to us in the Butterfly events. With Kristin Okazaki graduating, Elena will help fill some of the whole vacated by Okazaki. Elena's top times are from her Junior Year and spent last year recovering from injury. Now that she is healthy, Elena will make a major impact on the program in the future. I am very excited to have someone of Elena's work ethic, talent and personality joining the Tigers," concluded Meehan.
