Pacific Men's and Women's Swimming Splits Weekend Action in Washington

Seattle, Wash.- The Pacific Tigers Men's and Women's Swimming teams started off the 2005-06 campaign with a weekend split of two dual meets. The Tiger men defeated Seattle University 112-93 on Friday night, and lost to the University of Washington 146-109 on Saturday afternoon. The women also defeated Seattle by the score of 116-77 before falling to the Huskies 147-109.

The men were led by sophomore Krzysztof Zoldak (Oswiecim, Poland), who won four events on the weekend, the 200 IM (1:53.73) and the 200 fly (1:53.60) against Seattle, and the 200 fly (1:52.23) and 100 fly (50.28) against Washington. Sophomore Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland) also had a strong performance, as he won the 200 back (1:51.58) against Seattle and the 100 back (52.26) and 200 back (1:51.39) against Washington.

On the women's side, Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.) won an impressive five events on the weekend. Against Seattle, she took home first place honors in the 200 IM (2:04.50) and 200 back (2:06.91). Bragg stepped up even further against Washington winning the 200 free (1:52.30), 200 back (2:04.69) and the 400 IM (4:21.38).

The Tigers will have a week off to prepare for the Pacific Invitational, which will take place on Oct. 27-28 at Chris Kjeldsen pool.
