Tigers earn 10th straight win with a 58-43 victory over the UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Senior David Doubley (Vallejo, Calif.) scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the first half and the Tigers picked up their 22nd consecutive Big West Conference win with a 58-43 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Jan. 22. With the win, the Tigers improved to 14-2 overall and remained perfect at 9-0 in conference play. Pacific also improved to 8-1 on the road. The Gauchos fell to 7-9 on the season and 4-4 in Big West play.

Both teams traded early three-pointers at the start of the game. The Gauchos hit 3-of-4 from three land as it was 11-11 with 12:05 to go in the half.

After the first media timeout, the Tigers' offense would get on a roll, going on a 19-7 run the rest of the half and take a commanding 30-18 halftime lead. Senior David Doubley (Vallejo, Calif.) scored eight of his 13 first-half points in the run to help carry Pacific.

The Tigers continued to dominate in the second half, opening the half up with an 18-9 run to take a 48-27 lead with 10:31 to play. Pacific led by as many as 21 points throughout the rest of the game and cruised to a 58-43 win. The 16 point victory was the second largest road victory by the Tigers in their series history against the Gauchos. The biggest margin came during the 1997-98 season when Pacific won at UC Santa Barbara 76-60 on Feb. 5, 1998.

The Gauchos, who had only seven players suited up, were led by Josh Davis' 21 points.

The Tigers will finish up their three-game road trip when they visit Cal State Northridge for a Big West Conference contest on Thursday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
