Oregon State's Taylor Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Sept. 4, 2007 WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- OREGON STATE senior forward Jodie Taylor has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 28- Sept. 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Taylor, from Merseyside, England, broke the Oregon State record for career goals (35) with a two-shot, two-goal performance in a win against Cal State Northridge on Saturday. In the 50th minute, the ball came to a streaking Taylor who scored on a drive down the right side of the box, placing a 16-yard shot into the upper corner of the net. She also netted a penalty kick in the 57th minute to secure the 2-0 win over the Matadors. Taylor came back on Monday at No. 4 Portland with her third goal of the season, breaking the Beavers' all-time points record (87). Through two games played, Taylor has accounted for all three of OSU's goals. Oregon State (1-1) will take on Montana on Fri., Sept. 7 and UC Riverside on Sun., Sept. 9. This is Taylor's second weekly honor and the sixth all-time award for the Beavers.
