OSU: Alan will join the OSU program in August for fall camp...he enters the program as a middle linebacker prospect.

LAGUNA CREEK: Alan was selected as a prep All-American by SuperPrep Magazine following his senior year...rated by as the 20th best inside linebacker prospect in the nation and a three-star player...was a 2003 preseason All-American selection by PrepStar Magazine...rated by SuperPrep as the 45th best prospect in California...earned a three-star rating by and ranked as the 32nd best linebacker in the country and as the 59th best prospect overall on its Pac-10 Hot 100 list...named to the Tacoma News Tribune's Western 100 team...three-year starter at fullback and linebacker for Laguna Creek High School for Coach Lou a senior for a 9-2 team, Alan recorded 125 tackles and had three interceptions...rushed for 650 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 14 passes for 282 yards (20.1 average) and a touchdown...he scored 114 points as a senior...won a host of honors his final prep season, including prep All-America honors...he was named to the Cal Hi Sports All-State squad, Defensive Player of the Year and all-metro by the Sacramento Bee, team MVP (three years in a row), and All-Delta League three years in a a junior, he rushed for 675 yards and 11 touchdowns on 96 carries (7.0 per carry) - and caught 18 passes for 270 yards (15.0 average) and two touchdowns...scored 88 points as a junior and was named first-team all-league and to the Cal Hi Sports California first team...Alan was the Delta League MVP all three years he played at Laguna a linebacker, he had 31 solo tackles, 119 assists and one interception...prep teammate Keith Johnson is an incoming freshman at OSU...played two years of baseball and participated in track.

PERSONAL: Born in Castro Valley, California...son of Dean and Lori Darlin...his father is a telecommunications manager and his mother is a special needs teacher...he has an older brother, Ryan...enjoys sports and friends...Ricky Williams is his favorite athlete...his top athletic thrill to date is receiving an offer to play college football at Oregon State...he selected OSU because, "I like the coaching staff, educational opportunities, facilities and the people"...undecided major.
