Charlie Camp is in his second year at Oregon State University, with the assignment of linebackers coach. The linebacker unit excelled in 2003 with the likes of Richard Seigler, Jonathan Pollard, Trent Bray, Seth Lacey, Chaz Scott and Kevin Davidson.

Camp began his coaching career in 1997 at Sahuarita High School in Arizona as the school's defensive coordinator. The team advanced to the state playoffs for the first time and finished 10-2 that season.

His college coaching career began in 1998 at the University of Idaho, serving as a graduate assistant on defense, helping the team advance to the Humanitarian Bowl. He was promoted to full-time in 1999 and worked with the program's defensive ends and outside linebackers. In 2000 he moved to San Diego State, where he coached linebackers for two seasons for head coach Ted Tollner and was retained in 2002 by new coach Tom Craft. While at SDSU he coached five all-conference players. He returned to his alma mater, the University of Arizona, for the 2002 season to coach defensive ends.

Camp took advantage of the summer coaching internship program in the National Football League, working with the Miami Dolphins in 2000 and with Mike Riley and the San Diego Chargers in 2001.

Camp lettered four years as a linebacker for Arizona, starting 30-plus games. He concluded his UA career with 219 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and three quarterback sacks. Camp led the '95 team with 90 tackles. He also was a member of one of the NCAA's top defensive units of all-time - "Desert Swarm." While at Arizona, Camp played in the Freedom ('94), Fiesta ('94), and Sun Bowls ('92). He also was a teammate of two-time Lombardi Award finalist Tedy Bruschi and Outland Trophy winning nose tackle Rob Waldrop.

Following his college career, Camp played one season for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Camp is a 1996 graduate of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. He is a high school graduate of Archbishop Shaw in Marrero, La., in 1991, where he was a two-time all-city, all-conference, and all-state linebacker.

Charlie is married to the former Heidi Sue Jacob. The couple has one daughter, Alyssa, born in 2004. His younger brother, Darrol, played football at OSU.
