Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Jackie Falson, Catherine Scanlon and Kim Lucas all drained three-point shots in the final minute of the game to spark a Drexel comeback, but it was not enough as the Drexel women's basketball team was defeated 76-69 by the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sunday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Monarchs hold strong in first place in the CAA, with a 10-1 conference record and a 15-6 overall record, while Drexel falls to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in the CAA.

Drexel used a 40% shooting percentage to keep the game close in the first half, allowing the Monarchs largest lead to grow to just eight points. Ola Snytsina hit her now famous three-point shot with 6:21 remaining to tie the score at 24, but ODU managed to pull away yet again to take a 34-28 lead going into halftime.

The Monarchs opened up the second half with a 12-2 run that allowed them to take a 17-point lead with just over 10 minutes remaining. Snytsina made two three-pointers to cut ODU's lead to 12 and four successful free throws by Kira Karlstrom and Falson got Drexel within nine with just over four minutes to go in the half. The Dragons refused to go down without a fight, with Falson and Scanlon hitting shots from the charity stripe to cut Old Dominion's lead to ten points. The Monarch's Myriah Spence hit two free throws to put ODU up by 12 with 35 seconds remaining but Drexel wasn't finished yet. Falson hit one more three-pointer to put Drexel within nine with 19 seconds remaining and Lucas hit the game's final shot at four seconds but it was not enough to overcome a seven point lead, allowing ODU to take the game 76-69.

Falson led Drexel with 16 points, while Katrina Martin earned her first double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Snytsina chipped in with 13 points and Scanlon tallied 11 points.

Spence led Old Dominion with a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds. Max Nhassengo notched 17 points and six steals. Shareese Grant rounded out the Monarch's double figure scoring with 10 points and six assists.
