NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion pounded out 13 hits and three Monarch
pitchers scattered eight hits for a 9-2 non conference victory over Virginia Military
Institute Wednesday night. ODU is 22-27, while the Keydets are 21-25.
Bryan Cipolla and Steven Harris each knocked in two runs, while Evan
Chipman, Keith Hahn, Justin Gregula and Chris Keenan joined them with two hits
each.
Cipolla sacrifice fly scored Chipman in the first, he then doubled home
Chipman in the third. Steven Harris doubled home Justin Gregula in the sixth. He
Then doubled home Cipolla in the seventh inning.
Lefthander Bryan Hansen picked up the win, going the first five innings.
He fanned five with four walks. Dana Arrowood pitched three scoreless innings
with five strikeouts, and James Burok finished up in the ninth.
VMI threatened in the sixth with the score, 3-1. Matt Smith and Klint Reed
were on first and second, but Arrowood came on to get a fly ball out and two strikeouts
to end the threat.
ODU travels to Hempstead, NY for a three-game CAA series at Hofstra
beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
