ATHENS, Ohio - For the first time ever, the Ohio volleyball team spent an entire season nationally ranked in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Bobcats began the 2006 season ranked No. 15 in the preseason poll and remained in the poll throughout the year before ending the season as the No. 25 team in the nation.

Overall, the `Cats have been ranked in the poll for 27 consecutive weeks dating back to Oct. 3, 2005. Ohio's highest ranking was at No. 14 in the final poll of 2005. Ohio received its first national ranking on Nov. 19, 2004 when the Bobcats ranked in at No. 25.

Ohio also spent two weeks ranked in the Molten/Volleyball Women's College Top 20 Poll. The `Cats spent three consecutive weeks in the poll starting on Nov. 7 at No. 20, Nov. 19 at No. 19 and lastly on Nov. 26 at No. 18.

Also, for the first time ever, Ohio was ranked among the best in the NCAA Volleyball Attendance Poll. Ohio first entered the poll on Oct. 2 after a record crowd of 1,804 filled the Convo on Sept. 30. Ohio remained in the poll for the remainder of the season and held the No. 23 spot in the final poll with an 11,285 total and a 1,411 attendance average.

Fun Facts
- Ohio finished the 2006 season second best in the nation with 17.29 kills per game. Slightly behind national champion Nebraska who averaged 17.4 as the nation's leader.
- Ohio finished the 2006 season with the third best assists per game average with a 15.87 average.
- Ohio finished the season 28-5 for a .848 winning percentage, which was 14th best in the nation,
- Savanah Parra ranked top 10 in the nation with 13.47 assists per game. Melissa Griffin ended the year with a .379 hitting percentage, good for 22nd in the nation.
