Roanna Brazier guided the Bobcats for 12 seasons, nine as head coach.

ATHENS, Ohio – Roanna Brazier has resigned her position as Ohio University’s softball head coach, interim athletics director Amy Dean announced today. Brazier has accepted a position as a pitching instructor at Club K, a softball academy in Nashville, Tenn., following nine seasons as the head coach of the Bobcats and 12 years with the program.

“Coach Brazier has spent the past 12 years promoting Ohio University and the Ohio Softball program to student-athletes and their families across the country,” said Dean. “She has done a tremendous job representing the values and ideals of intercollegiate athletics and has been a valued member of our staff. We are grateful for Roanna’s hard work and dedication, and certainly wish her well in her new position.”

In nine seasons under Brazier, the Bobcats posted a 204-266 record and a 102-125 mark in the Mid-American Conference. While Brazier was an assistant coach with the program, the Bobcats compiled a 92-67 record over a three-year span. In 1995, she helped Ohio win the MAC championship and advance to the NCAA Regionals.

“These past 12 years at Ohio have been incredible,” said Brazier. “Athens has been good to me and I will miss the friendships I have developed and an atmosphere I have grown to love. Ohio University is an excellent institution and I look forward to following the changes, growth and successes that are certain to come.”

High academic standards and excellence in the classroom have been staples in Ohio Softball under Brazier’s reign. The team grade-point average was 3.0 or better in seven of her nine seasons at the helm. In 1999, the Bobcats ranked ninth in the nation in GPA among Division I softball programs. Kelli Bankert became the first Ohio softball player ever named to the Verizon Academic All-America team in 2001.

A national search for Brazier’s replacement will begin immediately, according to Dean.
