Debbie Szalejko is the MAC East Player of the Week for the week of April 30.

ATHENS, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference has named softball outfielder Debbie Szalejko (Beavercreek, Ohio) MAC East Player of the Week for the week of April 30.

Last week, Szalejko extended her hitting streak to 11 games, while leading the Bobcats with a .500 (12-for-24) batting average. Szalejko hit two triples, scored five runs, batted in three runners and led the team with 16 total bases. Against Western Michigan on Sunday, Szalejko went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. She also went 2-for-4 against Western Michigan on Saturday and against Northern Illinois on Friday. Szalejko has batted .463 during her hitting streak with 19 hits and seven runs scored. She currently leads the Bobcat offense with a .399 batting average, 153 at bats, 61 hits and five triples.

It is Szalejko's second MAC East Player of the Week honor this season and of her career. Szalejko was first honored on March 11. She's one of three Bobcats to earn the award this season.
