HUNTINGTON W.V. - Ohio (8-28-1, 2-18-1) fell to Mid-American East Division Conference champion Marshall, 10-2 on Sunday at Dot Hicks Field. The Thundering Herd took all three games from the Bobcats over the weekend. Junior Sarah Melvin (Loveland) led the Bobcats with two hits and a run scored.

Marshall jumped to a 2-0 lead off freshman Candy Warden (Fredrick, Md.) after two innings of work.

Warden took the loss and fell to 2-9. For the second time this weekend, the 'Cats faced Marshall's Randi Nielson, and once again Nielson held the Bobcats in check as she improved to 22-4 on the year.

With the Herd ahead 5-0, Ohio scored once in the fourth. Melvin double to center to start things off and came around to score on an error by Marshall's Courtney Kacenga.

Marshall put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fourth when they posted five runs - including a three-run homer by Allison Webb.

In the fifth, it looked like the 'Cats might have a big inning of their own brewing, but they only managed one run when pinch-runner Erika Rothbauer (Louisville, Ky.) scored on a RBI single to center by Katie Davis (Hanover, Pa.).

Marshall improved to 40-13 overall and 20-4 in the MAC.

Ohio will host Youngstown State on Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
