DELAWARE, Ohio - Ohio University junior Shanna Siefke shot a career-low 73 in the opening round of the Rocket Spring Classic as the Bobcats are third heading into Tuesday's final round at the Dornoch Golf Club.

Siefke's previous best was a 74 in the final round of the Lady Herd Fall Classic on Oct. 19, 2004. The Toledo native also carded the team's best score in the second round with an 81, tying her for sixth overall at 154.

After rounds of 75 and 84 on Monday, Ohio senior Ana Brown (West Chester, Ohio) is 14th out of 59 individual competitors. Just one stroke behind her is fellow senior Julie Tomlinson (Noblesville, Ind.), who is tied for 15th with a 160 (78-82).

Bobcat juniors Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) and Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.) are at 163 (81-82) and 165 (81-84), respectively, while freshman Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) is tied for 46th at 178 (88-90).
 

 

Eastern Michigan leads the 11-team field with a two-round mark of 596 (297-299) and tournament host Toledo is second at 617 (303-314).

In the individual race, EMU's Catherine Fortin leads the way with a two-over-par 144 (70-74) on the 5,882-yard, par-71 course. Eagle teammate Stephany Fleet is second at 149 (76-73).

Tuesday's final 18 holes will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Complete results will be posted at ohiobobcats.com as soon as they available.
