TUCSON, Ariz. - Marc Krauss became the third player in Ohio baseball history to be named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team when Collegiate Baseball released its annual awards today.

A native of Deshler, Ohio, Krauss joins former standouts Adam Fox (2001) and Ben Crabtree (2002) as the only players in Ohio history to gain such status. This award for Krauss comes on the heels of his being named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year at the conclusion of the season. Krauss was also the first freshman in Ohio history named to the All-MAC First Team.

Krauss finished his rookie campaign as the team leader in a number of offensive categories. In addition to pacing the team with a .369 average at the dish, Krauss also rapped a team-high eight home runs and 19 doubles. The first baseman also led the squad with a .610 slugging average and was second with 42 RBI. Krauss' batting average ranked second in the MAC in the final season statistics.

Krauss also led Ohio with 23 multiple-hit and 13 multiple-RBI games in 2007. He recorded two different 11-game hitting streaks during the season and his highlight game came against Youngstown State on March 27 when he launched three home runs.

Krauss was one of six first basemen named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team. The entire team consisted of 91 players, with no designation as to first- or second-team status. Krauss is one of four MAC players to make this list including; Central Michigan designated hitter Billy Andersen, Kent State outfielder Anthony Gallas, and Northern Illinois second baseman Jordin Hood.

The Bobcat slugger will follow up his outstanding freshman campaign by playing this offseason with the Grand Lake Mariners of Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. The defending league champion Mariners play their home games at Jim Hoess Field in Celina, Ohio.
