Reinhart Claims Fifth at MAC Championships

    ATHENS, Ohio -- Carime Reinhart's fifth-place finish in the women's 10,000 meters highlighted day one of the 2005 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the Bobcats on their home course, Goldsberry Track.

    Reinhart paced the Ohio effort through just two women’s events on Thursday. The freshman distance runner nabbed fifth place in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:10.48.

    Through three events in the heptathlon, Melissa Gedeon had the Bobcats’ top finish. She claimed a tie for fourth in the high jump portion of the event with a mark of 5-3.

    On the men's side, Zac Williams notched Ohio’s first point of the championship Thursday afternoon in the javelin. Williams recorded a mark of 165-04 to claim eighth.

    Craig Leon scored the second of Ohio’s two points for the day, snatching eighth place in the men’s 10,000 meters with a time of 31:12.93.

    Chad Lutz recorded the Bobcats’ top effort through five decathlon events, nabbing a tie for fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.75.

    Action will resume with a full slate scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Action will pick up at 10 A.M. Friday with the decathlon.
