ATHENS, Ohio – Numerous Goldsberry Track records were broken Saturday as Cincinnati took home the Southern Cup. Last year's Southern Cup winner, Miami, came in second while Ohio took third place in the combined team standings.

Junior Jericka Duncan (Aurora) and senior Foli James (Albany) joined Boone Troyer (Newark) as the latest Bobcats to qualify for the NCAA regional meet. Duncan and James qualified in the 400-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles, respectively. Duncan set a new track record by clocking a time of 59.39 in the 400-meter hurdles. She also took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.18.

James, meanwhile, had four top-three finishes. She took first in the 100-meter dash (11.80), second in the 100-meter hurdles (13.81), second in the long jump (5.74m) and third in the high jump (1.63m).

On the men's side, Ohio junior Jason Linton (Vincent) took second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:54.36. Fellow junior Chip Cox (Columbus) took third in the 100-meter dash (10.80) while freshman Dustin Holm (Thornville) took third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.84.

"Overall, we had good performances today," said Bobcat head coach Clay Calkins. "Jericka and Foli were our top performers today by qualifying for regionals but many recorded personal bests today. That was good for them (Jericka and Foli) to get that (qualifying) out of the way before the MAC Championships."

Ohio will host the Ohio Open next Saturday, May 8, at Goldberry Track. The event will begin at noon.
