Sea Ray Relays Meet Information

April 13, 2006

ATHENS, Ohio and KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Ohio track and field team will host athletes from three schools on Saturday for the Bobcat Invitational, while sending nine of its own to the University of Tennessee for the 40th annual Sea Ray Relays.

In the second home meet of the season at Goldsberry Track, Ohio will welcome athletes from Marshall, Shawnee State and Wright State. These schools will not be competing with a full complement however, as they have also sent several athletes to other meets across the country.  Due to small amount of entries, action is now set to begin at noon.

About 2,000 men and women from 119 teams/affiliations are expected to be competing at Tennessee's Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium this weekend. On the men's side, Dan Bailey (Uniontown), Jeremy Keesee (Marysville), Brian King (Richfield, Minn.), Jason Linton (Vincent), Austin Schiele (Hudson) and John Willis (Troy) will be representing Ohio. The Bobcat women will include Andrea Maas (Cincinnati), Susan Plungis (Great Barrington, Mass.) and Carime Reinhart (Bascom).

Ohio will return to the same facility for the 2006 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships May 26-27. Jaclyn Lugaila (Waterford, Pa.) qualified earlier this outdoor season in the shot put. Several Bobcats have come close in other events, but they still have five meets, including this weekend, to qualify.

The Venue

Ohio's Goldsberry Track is a state-of-the-art running surface completed in May of 2000. The surface consists of rekortan, a material mixed of rubber granules and a liquid fixative atop asphalt. Located west of Bob Wren Stadium, the track surrounds Peggy Pruitt Field, the artificial-turf surface that is home to Ohio's field hockey and lacrosse programs. Admission to the Bobcat Invitational is free to the public.

The Results

Results will be made available immediately following the conclusion of the Bobcat Invitational on the official Web site of Ohio athletics, www.ohiobobcats.com.
