Duncan Sweeps Hurdles as Bobcats Place Third at McDonald's Invitational

    ATHENS, Ohio – Bobcat junior Jericka Duncan (Aurora) grabbed victories in both the 100 and 400 hurdles as the Ohio women's track and field team placed third at the McDonald's Invitational on Saturday. Duncan recorded times of 14.53 in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:01.51 in the 400 hurdles. The Bobcats earned 131.5 points, taking third to first-place Kent State (158.5) and second-place Buffalo (146).

    Senior Foli James (Albany) had three top-three finishes during the meet including first in the high jump (1.62m), second in the long jump (5.55m), and second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.74). Also coming up big for Ohio was senior Monique Taylor (Whitby, Ontario) and sophomore Melissa Gedeon (Delphos). Gedeon took third in both the high jump (1.57m) and in the 800 meters (2:20.81). The 4x100 relay team scored big points for the team as it finished first with a time of 47.56 seconds.

    Additional Bobcats that placed in the top three were Rachael Diehl (Lancaster) in the pole vault (3rd, 3.30m), Randi Carter (Wheaton, Ill.) in the long jump (3rd, 5.53m) and Tamara Fennell (Cincinnati) in the triple jump (3rd, 11.11m) and the 4x400 relay (3rd, 3:58.66).

    Ohio will traval to Oxford, Ohio, next weekend to compete in the Miami Invitational on April 10. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m.
