ATHENS, Ohio - In a meet that saw the top teams from the state of Ohio competing for state bragging rights, the Ohio women's track and field team finished fifth, while the men's team claimed sixth place Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.

On the women's side, junior Carime Reinhart (Bascom, Ohio) was the lone Bobcat to claim an individual title. Reinhart took first place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:07.74, followed by teammate Rachel Beakas (Waterville, Ohio) who finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:34.48.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Celia Struble (Vandalia, Ohio) finished seventh in 11:47.24, freshman Jenielle Hunt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished 11th in 12:01.13 and senior Anna Wines (Cincinnati, Ohio) took 13th in 12:11.29. Other top performances for the Bobcats included freshman Annie Beecham (Granville, Ohio) and sophomore Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green, Ohio) finishing second and third in the 10,000-meter run in 37:53.21 and 37:54.89, respectively, while sophomore Melissa Wiley (Columbus, Ohio) finished fifth in the 100m hurdles (14.70).

In the women's field events, the Bobcats took three of the top-10 spots in the javelin as Chelsea Stephan (Brookville, Ohio), Melissa Gressick (Lancaster, Ohio) and Susan Plungis (Great Barrington, Mass.) finished second, eighth and eleventh, respectively. Sophomore Jessica Tanner (Newark, Ohio) took fourth in the discus (143-10.00) and fifth in the hammer throw (165-01.00). Freshmen Ashlee Reynolds (Belpre, Ohio) and Abby Kacsandi (Wooster, Ohio) finished tied-seventh and tied-ninth in the high jump. Sophomore Brittany Vinson (Amelia, Ohio) also had a solid meet finishing ninth in the long jump (18-03.25) and tenth in the triple jump (35-05.00).
 

 

On the men's side, freshman Curtis Leuenberger (Louisville, Ohio) finished second in the 200m (21.53) and fifth in the 100m (10.71). Senior Dan Bailey (Uniontown, Ohio) finished 11th in the 400m run with a time of 48.88. The Ohio University 4x100m relay team finished fifth with a time of 42.16, which is the third fastest time the relay team has posted this season. Senior Craig Leon took fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:47.30.

In the men's field events, senior Eric Bildstein (North Olmsted, Ohio) finished second in the javelin with 178-08.00, followed by Zach Miller (5th; 152-00.00) and Chris Campbell (6th; 144-03.00). In the triple jump, Dan Bailey and Mike Gbenro finished third and sixth, respectively.

The Bobcats will next be in action next weekend, April 27-28, when they compete in the Hillsdale Relays in Hillsdale, Mich.
