EVANSTON, Ill. -- Eight Wildcats were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCA) 2006 Division I National Academic Squad, it was announced today. Additionally, Northwestern received the 2006 Division I National Academic Team Award, which was awarded to programs with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Northwestern, which had seven players earn Academic All-Big Ten accolades earlier in the year, was one of only five conference teams honored with the NFHCA team award. The Wildcats also are one of only 48 Division I schools to be recognized nationally by the NFHCA with a National Academic Team Award.

Individually, Katie Charles (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), Courtney Coburn (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington), Meagan Harvey (Carlsbad, Calif./Kingswood Regional), Lauren Przyborowski (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park River Forest), Megan Sieberg (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills), Meghan Small (Bethlehem, Pa./Moravian Academy), Jessica Stroup (Cleveland, Ohio/Laurel School) and Stacy Uchida (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) were named to the Division I National Academic Squad.

Przyborowski, Sieberg and Small garnered the honor for the fourth-consecutive year, while Charles, a junior, earned the award for the third time.
