EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's wrestling team has three wrestlers earn 2006 NWCA All-Academic Team honors, while placing fifth among all schools in cumulative team G.P.A., the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced. Matt Delguyd (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield), Will Durkee (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and Jake Herbert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) were each honored by the NWCA.

For Delguyd, the selection is the third of his career. He is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient.

For Durkee and Herbert, the selection is their first-career NWCA All-Academic Team honor. Herbert also was named Academic All-Big Ten this year.

The Wildcats finished first among Big Ten teams in cumulative G.P.A., and finished higher at the NCAA Championships than any of the four teams ranked ahead of them. Northwestern improved 10 spots from its 2004 finish.
