VILLANOVA, PA. - Villanova volleyball head coach Gilad Doron announced the 2004 Wildcat schedule today, which will include 17 individual matches and four tournaments.

The Wildcats will start the season with back-to-back tournaments, first heading to Los Angeles on Sept. 3-4 for the Loyola Marymount Tournament, which will also include Tennessee and Duke.

Then Villanova will return home for the Villanova Classic, which will feature Fairfield, Binghamton and Virginia Commonwealth. Along with the tournament, the squad will play seven other matches in Jake Nevin Field House.

Two other tournaments highlight the schedule, including one at Northwestern on Sept. 17-18 that will feature national powerhouse Stanford along with Western Kentucky. Then Rutgers will host a BIG EAST Preseason Tournament that will include Boston College and Connecticut.

New teams on the schedule include Bucknell, Delaware State, Long Island and Wagner, but 10 BIG EAST foes also await the Wildcats in 2004. Defending conference champion Pittsburgh visits the Main Line on Oct. 24.

The BIG EAST Tournament will be held on Nov. 20-21 at Pittsburgh.

Villanova qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament in 2003 and finished with a 14-15 overall record.
