Morgan Places Third At Jamaican Nationals Championship

June 25, 2007

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Villanova sprinter Monique Morgan continued her stellar season on Jamaican soil this past weekend. Morgan placed a remarkable third in the 100m hurdles at the Jamaican Nationals Championship held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. Her impressive finish with a time of 13.11 marks Morgan's second fastest time of the season in this particular event.

The recent graduate's top-three finish puts her in the running for selection to the Jamaican National Team, which will compete in the Pan-American Games starting on July 22 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Furthermore, Morgan could potentially qualify for the prestigious IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) World Championships in Osaka, Japan this August. The Kingston, Jamaica native has until August 13 to achieve the automatic qualifying time of 12.96 to secure her spot in Osaka.
