Morgan And Koons Earn All-American Honors
March 10, 2007 Fayetteville, Ark. - The NCAA Indoor Championships allowed the Wildcat women a chance to compete among the most elite runners across the country. Pacing Villanova were senior Monique Morgan and junior Frances Koons. Both Morgan and Koons placed eighth in the country in their respective events, while the distance medley relay team finished tenth. Monique Morgan earned her second NCAA All-American award by finishing eighth in the 60m hurdles last night. Morgan improved her personal best time to 8.16 in the preliminaries and 8.27 in the finals. This is the second straight NCAA Championship that Morgan has earned an All-American award. Last spring she also earned this distinction at the Outdoor NCAA Championships while competing in the 100m Hurdles. Frances Koons also finished eighth in 3000m clocking in at 9:20.22. This is the second straight year that the Allentown, Pa. native has garnered All-American honors in this particular event. Koons also anchored the Villanova DMR team that captured the tenth position in the finals. Ellen Dougherty, Akilah Vargas, Tiera Fletcher, and Koons combined for a time of 11:15.58. The NCAA Indoor Championships marks the end of the 2007 indoor season. The Wildcats will take a week off from competition before making their way to the Walt Disney World Invitational in Orlando, Fla. on March 22.
