VILLANOVA, Pa. - A true team effort resulted in the Villanova women's tennis team sweeping Manhattan 7-0 this past Friday at Villanova's West Campus Tennis Complex. The victory moves the Wildcats to 1-1 on the season.

Villanova began the match by sweeping all three doubles spots to take an early 1-0 lead over Manhattan. Freshman Emily Urda and sophomore Courtney Reed continued their win streaks with wins in the third and fourth singles spots, respectively. Juniors Jaclyn Williamson, Lyndsey Lostritto, and Daniella Phillis all posted convincing victories in the first, fifth, and sixth positions, while sophomore Carla Erskine followed her teammates' leads by posting scores of 6-2, 6-0 to easily defeat her competitor in the number two slot.

Villanova hopes to carry this momentum into their next match on Monday, Sept. 17 when they host the Hawks of Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m.
