Wildcats Fall to Seton Hall, 6-1

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Sophmore Leighann Reilly (Voorhees, N.J.) won her No.3 singles match, which proved to be the only win for the Wildcats as Villanova fell to Big East rival Seton Hall, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon. Villanova falls to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Reilly rallied from a set down to win the match over the Hall's Nadja Sein, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. Seton Hall recorded the first point of the day by sweeping the doubles matches. Senior Lorell Zamot and sophomore Veronika Gerka got things started with an 8-1 win at No. 3 over freshman Zoe Murray (Boston, Mass.) and Reilly, and sophomores Ebru Burduroglu and Jennifer Seide followed with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 over senior Morgan Flezzani (Pfafftown, N.C.) and senior Melissa Reed (Wyomissing, Pa.). Junior Viviana Figueroa and sophomore Iva Gyurgina closed out doubles play with an 8-5 win at No. 1 over sophomore Candice Carlin (Moorestown, N.J.) and senior Morgan Flezzani (Pfafftown, N.C.).
Burduroglu cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Courtney Flezzani at No. 2 to post Seton Hall's first singles point. Gerka posted a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 6 over Murray while Zamot registered a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4 over Morgan Flezzani.
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, April 9, when they host another conference opponent, Rutgers, at 12 p.m.
