Providence, RI- On Monday, April 28, the Big East Conference honored Villanova softball pitcher Shannon Williams with Co-Pitcher of the Week honors. This is the first weekly honor for Williams in her career, and the second weekly honor for Villanova pitchers this season. Theresa Hornick was named Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 1.

The honor comes on the heels of Williams' two victories over Big East teams this weekend. After defeating Virginia Tech 6-1, Williams tossed a three-hitter in a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh. The Panthers recorded two hits in the first inning alone, but Williams only allowed one single through the rest of the game. Williams also earned victories over Penn and Delaware. In her victory over Penn, Williams established a new career high with 11 strikeouts.

On the season, Williams owns a 10-3 record with a 2.59 ERA. Williams tossed her first career no-hitter earlier in the season with a complete game over Mount St. Mary's.

The Wildcats are back in action today when they host the St. Joseph's Hawks in the last home game of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00PM.
