VILLANOVA, PA. ----- On Monday, April 15, the Big East Conference selected Villanova junior Sara Carlson (Langley, B.C.) as the Player of the Week. Carlson, the Preseason Player of the Year, earned the honors for the first time this season leading the Wildcats to a 9-1 week overall and a 2-0 mark in conference action.

The junior was 15-for-29 at the plate for a .517 batting average with six RBI and six doubles. In what was arguably the most important series of the season at Virginia Tech, Carlson cashed in with a 5-for-6 effort (.833 avg.) with two RBI and two runs scored. Carlson currently leads the team with 13 doubles and ranks third among the Villanova career leaders.

On the year, Carlson, the career home run leader, is batting .379 with three homers and 24 RBI. She has helped Villanova achieve a 31-7 record overall, and a 7-3 mark in the Big East.

Villanova returns to action on Tuesday, April 16, with a non-conference double-header against La Salle at Villanova Softball Field. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
