Lugo Earns Big East Softball Player Of The Week Honors

VILLANOVA, PA. ----- VILLANOVA, PA. ----- Sophomore Ricci Lugo (San Clemente, Calif.) continues to make headlines for Villanova softball as she was named Big East Player of the Week by the conference on Monday, March 11. Lugo helped Villanova to an 8-2 week, batting .463 (19-for-41) with six home runs, 20 RBI, 12 runs, two triples, and a slugging percentage of 1.024. On Friday, March 8, against Sacred Heart, Lugo became only the second player in the program's history to hit for the cycle, as she finished the day 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple and solo home run, driving in four of the Wildcats six runs in a 6-0 victory. Her four hits also ties a school record for hits in a game. After 12 games, Lugo has already tripled her home run and triple output from her rookie season. In the last four games of the road trip Lugo went 7-for-11 with two home runs, two triples, and 12 RBI.
