VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior pitcher Kristen Haynes (Fairfax, Calif.) and sophomore shortstop Sheri Donley (Orange, Calif.) have been named to the 2005 Charleston Southern Hampton Inn/Comfort Inn/Comfort Suites/Sleep Inn Softball Invitational All-Tournament team, it was announced on Tuesday. Haynes and Donley led the Wildcats to a 7-1 tournament record and a trip to the championship game, where they played a hard-fought battle against the No. 5 Tennessee Lady Vols. Tennessee picked up the 4-0 win and tournament title on Sunday afternoon.
Haynes compiled a 3-1 record over seven games, pitching 24 complete innings. She struck out 28 and opponents hit a mere .170 off her pitches. Her ERA at the tournament's end was 1.17.
Donley started in all eight games for Villanova. She finished 8-for-29 (.276) garnering five runs and five RBI. Donley hit a grand slam in the Wildcats' 6-0 victory over Georgia State on Saturday.
Villanova (14-6) returns to action on Thursday, March 10, when it takes on Purdue at 11 a.m. and Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. at the Speedline Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida.
