VILLANOVA, PA. - The Villanova women's soccer team will depart Thursday for Chestnut Hill, Mass., where the Wildcats are slated to do battle with the Boston College Eagles. The Big East Conference rivals will meet on Friday, Sept. 17th, at 1:00 p.m., at Newton Campus Field in Chestnut Hill.

The `Cats have topped the Eagles in three of the last four meetings. Villanova and Boston College last met in the 2003 Big East Conference Championship Game. With the game knotted in a 1-1 tie following regulation and two overtime periods, the contest went into a first and then a second series of penalty kicks. The Wildcats ended up defeating the Eagles 7-6 in penalty kicks to win their first-ever Big East title. BC leads the all-time series versus Villanova by an 11-5-1 margin.

•Villanova is coming off a 2003 season in which it finished with a school record 15 victories and a 15-5-5 record, won its first-ever Big East Conference Tournament title, made its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, advanced to its first-ever NCAA Sweet 16, and ended the season with a No. 15 ranking in the final NSCAA Poll.

•Senior defender Michelle Biehl earned All-America honors for the second consecutive season in 2003, becoming the first Wildcat in women's soccer history to do so. She will attempt to make it a third straight in `04.

•The Wildcats are 5-11-1 all-time against the Boston College Eagles, but have topped the Eagles in three of the last four meetings Villanova and Boston College last met in the 2003 Big East Conference Championship Game. •The Wildcat players and coaches received their 2003 Big East Conference Championship rings on Friday, Sept. 3rd, in a pre-game ceremony before their game versus St. Joseph's. Villanova won its first-ever conference title in 2003, defeating Connecticut 1-0 in the quarterfinals, West Virginia on penalty kicks in the semifinals and Boston College on penalty kicks in the championship game.

•Freshman forward Nikki Mabery, from Phoeniz, Ariz., currently leads the Wildcats in scoring with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist). She was named Big East Rookie of the Week on Sept. 6.

•The Villanova Wildcats have three shutouts in six games thus far in 2004 and have now blanked opponents in 19 of the last 28 games dating back to last season.

•Villanova will next play on Sunday, Sept. 18th hosting Towson University at 1:00 p.m.
