No. 18 Villanova Downs Seton Hall on Jeltema's Game-Winner
Oct. 23, 2002 SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Janessa Jeltema's second-half goal gave 18th-ranked Villanova a 2-1 win over Seton Hall in a BIG EAST Mid-Atlantic Division women's soccer match on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in South Orange, N.J.. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 11-1-4 overall and 4-1-1 in the Big East, while the Pirates drop to 6-11-1 and 1-4-1 in the league.
Jeltema broke down the right side and took a shot from outside of the box to score the gamewinner at 78:03.
Seton Hall got on the board first when freshman Katie Herr took a punt from goalkeeper Leah Miller moved down the field and blasted a shot from 20 yards out, beating Villanova goalkeeper Chrissy Dolan to the far left corner at 4:11. It was Herr's team-leading seventh goal of the season.
The Wildcats tied the contest before halftime when Julie Battista sent a shot into the box from an angle on the left side, which rolled in to the far right corner at 26:28.
Villanova held a 16-11 edge in shots while Dolan made four saves. Miller stopped eight shots for the Pirates.
The Wildcats will get back into action on Sunday, Oct. 27, hosting Howard at 2:00 p.m.
