Rutgers Scores in 87th Minute to Top Villanova 1-0 in Big East Women's Soccer Action
Oct. 15, 2003 PISCATAWAY, NJ - On Wednesday, Oct. 15th, at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J., the Villanova women's soccer team fell to Rutgers, 1-0, as Scarlet Knight junior forward Carli Lloyd scored in the 87th minute to give Rutgers the win. The Wildcats fell to 10-5-0 overall on the season and 2-2-0 in the Big East with the loss. The Scarlet Knights improved to 8-4-4 overall and 2-1-1 in conference action with Wednesday's victory. With under four minutes on the clock, the ball came across the box to RU freshman Jaime Komar, who got the ball to Lloyd's feet just outside of the box. Lloyd then buried the ball in the back of the net. Rutgers was ranked fifth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and tied for seventh by Soccerbuzz in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week (Oct. 13). Villanova was rated seventh by the NSCAA and fifth by Soccerbuzz in the same region. Taking the loss in net for Villanova despite saving a game-high four shots was senior Chrissy Dolan. The Wildcats will get back into action on Sunday, Oct. 19th, hosting nationally ranked West Virginia at 1:00 p.m. at the Villanova Soccer Complex.
