BOSTON, Mass. - At the annual Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend, Villanova entered boats in the Collegiate Eights and Lightweight Eights races. All scheduled races in the event were contested, despite weather conditions that forced a change to a short course for the duration of the weekend.

The Wildcats placed sixth in a field of 50 schools in the Collegiate Eights race. Their time of 13:20.192 was just 29 seconds off the pace. Villanova came in behind boats from Louisville, West Virginia, Buffalo and San Diego State in the race.

The Lightweight Eights boat finished 13th out of 15 teams with a time of 14:54.722. Coming off a win the previous week at the Navy Day Regatta, Villanova finished 1:44 off the winning time. In a field made up largely of club teams, the Wildcats finished behind just three other collegiate boats - Princeton, Stanford and Cal-Berkeley.

Villanova will once again race locally this weekend, as it competes in the nearby Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Camden, N.J.
