The goal also gives her 72 career points, placing her in tenth on the all-time career points list. Other current Wildcats in the record books are seniors Brooke Bergmann and Krissy Malchitsky. Bergmann's 21 career assists places her in a tie for fourth in school history, while Malchitsky's 17 has her in a tie for seventh for career assists as a Wildcat.
Trying to Snap the Skid
The Wildcats enter today's game with their worst losing streak of the season, standing at three games. Prior to Saturday's loss to Boston College, Villanova lost two games by one goal each to ranked opponents. On October 14 the 'Cats fell to No. 19 Syracuse in double overtime 4-3, and on October 16 No. 14 Duke handed Villanova a 3-2 setback. The 'Cats record, which once stood at 9-4, now stands at 9-7. They look to get back on track today against the Hawks.
Big East Season Concluded
Villanova's 4-2 loss to Boston College on Saturday marked the final Big East Conference regular season game of the 2001 season. Following a 3-0 start to the conference season, including a road victory over then No. 14 Connecticut, the 'Cats dropped their final two Big East contests of the season. Prior to their loss to BC, the 'Cats dropped a double-overtime heartbreaker to the No. 19 Syracuse Orangewomen. The 'Cats 3-2 Big East record is good enough for third place in the conference, and qualifies them for the 2001 Big East Tournament in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Final Home Stretch
Following today's contest, the Wildcats have just one game remaining on the regular season schedule. On Sunday, Oct. 28, Villanova will host rival La Salle at 1:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest. Following the regular season finale, the 'Cats will compete in the Big East Championships.
