VILLANOVA, PA. - Senior guard Courtney Mix (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Central Catholic) became the 17th Wildcat to score 1,000 points on Sunday, as Villanova's women's basketball team buried Pittsburgh, 75-45, at the Pavilion. The Wildcats connected on 16-of-26 from long distance, two shy of the school record.

Villanova did most of its damage from deep in the first half, when the 'Cats hit 11-of-18 to open up a 46-25 lead. Kelly Nash hit the first of her team-high five 3-pointers 4:48 into the game, giving Villanova an 8-6 lead. Pittsburgh never led again.

Another Nash triple with 7:26 to go in the half started an 11-0 run as the Wildcats were on their way to a season-high 75 points.

Villanova has made 48 3-pointers in its last four games.

Eight different Wildcats connected from 3-point range against the Panthers, who fell to 6-14 with the loss, 2-8 in the Big East. Jennifer Hilgenberg, Jackie Adamshick and Mix all were successful on multiple 3-point tries on the afternoon. Mix's three 1:31 into the second half put her over the 1,000-point plateau, and led to a Panther timeout.

Villanova, now a perfect 9-0 at the Pavilion in 2003-04, improved to 16-5 with the win, 6-4 in league action.

While the Villanova offense rained 3-pointers all day, the Wildcat defense was busy holding the Panthers to 25.4 percent field goal shooting. Pitt made just 1-of-10 3-pointers, and made just one field goal over the game's final 13:48.

It was during that drought that the 'Cats opened up their largest lead of the game, 38 points, on a 3-pointer by Betsy McManus with 6:08 remaining.

The Panthers became the ninth Villanova opponent this season to be held under 50 points. In the Wildcats' last six games, opponents have scored a total of just 259 points for a shade over 43 points per game average.

Pitt failed to put any player in double figures, while 'Nova had three. Nash's 15 led the way, followed by 12 points from Adamshick and 11 from Mix.

The Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Villanova travels to Providence, R.I. to take on the Friars.
