Bethlehem, Pa. - The Villanova men's tennis team secured its first victory of the spring season defeating in-state foe, Lehigh University, 6-1 at the Lewis Tennis Center in Bethlehem, Pa. The win improves the Wildcats' record to 1-5, as the Mountain Hawks drop to 1-8 overall.

Villanova jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead by sweeping all three doubles positions to collect its first point of the match. After suffering a minor setback in the first singles spot, the Wildcats fought back to clinch the remaining five spots to seal the 6-1 victory. Junior Sean Daly and freshmen Brett Tobin and John Magliano saw the toughest battles, as all three of their respective spots were settled in three sets.

With the win, junior Scott Fahrendorf and freshman Brett Tobin both level their overall singles record improving to 2-2 and 3-3, respectively. Fahrendorf also advanced his doubles record jumping to 3-1, as did classmate Charlie Farmer who improved to 3-2.

The Wildcats remain local this week as they take on the Owls of Temple University on Thursday, March 22 at 2:30 p.m. at TU Pavilion.
