Men's Tennis Falls to Point Loma Nazarene, 6-3

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Villanova men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Point Loma Nazarene in its first spring break match. The Wildcats fall to 4-3 overall, while Point Loma improves to 6-3.

For Villanova, Aaron Kusza battled to a three-set victory over Christian Gerloff, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, at third singles. Then at No. 6 singles, Lucas Kaster posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Sean Sand.

Point Loma captured two of the three doubles matches, with Villanova taking No. 1 doubles as Kusza and Kaster paired for the win over Zac Markham and Matt Copland to move to 3-2 on the season.

Villanova returns to action on Wednesday at Vanguard.

Singles
1. Zac Markham (PLNU) def. Angel Rubio, 6-0, 6-3.
2. Matt Copland (PLNU) def. Ricardo Baraldi, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4).
3. Aaron Kusza (VU) def. Christian Gerloff, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
4. Aaron Paajanen (PLNU) topped Alex Villalobos, 6-4, 6-3.
5. Johannes Vance (PLNU) def. David Harring, 6-4, 6-4.
6. Lucas Kaster (VU) def. Sean Sand, 6-4, 6-3.

 

 

Doubles
1. Kusza/ Kaster (VU) def. Markham/ Copland, 8-2.
2. Vance/ Paajanen (PLNU) def. Baraldi/ Rubio, 8-4.
3. Gerloff / Sand (PLNU) def. Sean Gallagher/ Harring, 8-5.
