Villanova senior goalie Jason Friel (Dublin, Pa./Pennridge H.S.)was named to the NSCAA Northeast Region third team squad this week.

Friel enjoyed a stellar season in net for the Wildcats, posting six shutouts. In the process he became the Wildcats' all-time leader in that category. One of the most memorable of his 2007 shutouts was a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Duke in September.

In 2007 Friel posted a 1.08 goals against average and .806 save percentage. He started 19 of Villanova's 20 games.

The Wildcats completed their season with a 10-9-1 record and returned to the BIG EAST Tournament after a one-year absence. Villanova spent several weeks in the national polls in September and returns the bulk of its roster in 2008.
