Wildcats Named Philadelphia Soccer Seven Team of the Year

Nov. 27, 2007

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Philadelphia Soccer Seven named the Villanova Wildcats its team of the Year after a performance that included going undefeated without allowing a goal in Soccer Seven Play and knocking off top-ranked Duke in non-conference play.

The Wildcats' sophomore midfielder Mike Seamon was named the league's Player of the Year. Seamon led the Soccer Seven in scoring with nine goals and 20 points and was a two-time Player of the Week selection during the season.

Drexel's Lew Meehl was named Coach of the Year. Meehl led the Dragons to a 11-5-3 record and a first-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association. Meehl takes the coaching honor for the 13th time in his coaching career.

Penn's Josh Baugh and La Salle's Walter McMahon shared John Adams Academic Player of the Year honors. Baugh is a 4.0 pre-med major at Penn and McMahon is a 3.82 accounting major. Saint Joseph's Colin Baker was named the William "Bill" Wilkinson Freshman of the Year. Baker earns the award, which was named for deceased Drexel hall-of-fame player and La Salle coach William Wilkinson, after leading the Hawks in goals and points on the season.

The Soccer Seven also announced its All-Star team at the league's annual banquet held at Colleen's on Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
