LAST TIME OUT...
WILDCATS OUTLAST SACRED HEART FOR FIRST CAA VICTORY

On Saturday, March 30, the Villanova men's lacrosse program earned its first Colonial Athletic Association victory ever with a 17-9 defeat over Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn. Villanova jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Four Wildcats tallied three goals apiece led by Brian Marks who finished with seven points on the afternoon. Randall Calvert, Mike Holloway, and Matt Lucas also had three goals. Freshman Dan Biser made nine saves in 54 minutes of play as the 'Cats improved to 3-3 on the year, 1-2 in CAA play.

VILLANOVA HOSTS NO. 3 RANKED JOHNS HOPKINS
The Wildcats host No. 3 ranked Johns Hopkins tonight at Villanova Stadium. Villanova has failed to defeat Hopkins in its five previous meetings with the Blue Jays. Last year the two teams battled in Baltimore, Md. With the score tied 4-4 at intermission, JHU tallied five third quarter goals to the Wildcats one to pull away for an 11-7 Blue Jays victory. All seven Villanova goals were scored by players currently on this year's roster.

'CATS TRAVEL TO STONY BROOK
Following tonight's match-up the Wildcats will back their bags and head north to New York where they will face-off against the Stony Brook Seawolves. Head coach Randy Marks has posted a 1-1 record in the series with Stony Brook. Stony Brook currently stands at 5-3 overall, 3-1 in America East. The Seawolves are led by Kevin Pall who has tallied 30 points on 29 goals and one assist through eight games. Stony Brook will be in action on Wednesday, Apr. 3, when they host Marist.

CORSO'S CRAZIES
You may not read about about him in the headlines, but in case you have not noticed already, junior Owen Corso is simply a groundball fiend. Through six games this season, Corso leads the CAA with 43 groundballs, an average of 7.17 per game. Corso's contributions to the team only begin with his abilities as a "groundball machine." Corso brings a level of intensity unlike any other Wildcat. He is the Wildcats intimidator as well as the leading All-American candidate. Keep your eye on No. 2 and his unique style of play. If his skills don't amaze you, the "craziness" which he brings to the playing field assuredly will.

ROAD TRIP
Following tonight's contest with Johns Hopkins Villanova will prepare for back-to-back road game. The first will be on Saturday, April 6, at Stony Brook followed by a match-up with No. 10 ranked Towson one week later on Saturday, April 13, in Towson, Md. The Wildcats hope to have started a new trend this past weekend with their second road win of the season at Sacred Heart. Last season, the Wildcats only won one game away from the friendly confines of Villanova Stadium.

HE KEEPS GOING, AND GOING, AND GOING
Senior captain Mike Holloway continues to prove why he is considered one of the top midfielders in the CAA. Holloway has found the back of the net at least one time in the 11 consecutive games. In the Wildcats' victory on Saturday he chipped in three goals and three assists for a career-high six points. He currently leads the team with 12 goals and is second in overall points with 19.

ECLIPSING THE CENTURY "MARKS"
Finishing the Lehigh game with a goal and an assist, junior Brian Marks recorded his 100th career point on Saturday, March 16. Brian Marks currently leads the team with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists. He is tied for third in the CAA with assists per game (2.00). In his first three seasons on the Main Line, the 2002 All-American Candidate and native of Glenmoore, Pa., has posted 50 goals and 60 assists for 110 career points.

O' BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU
Two Villanova seniors will have the benefit of playing along side their younger brother this season. Once again senior Justin Marks will join his brother Brian Marks on attack. The Marks' brothers combined to tally 41 goals and 32 assists last season and have picked up right where they left off. In the season opener, the two combined for three goals and five assists for eight points. The older brother of Justin and Brian, David Marks, will be on the sidelines as an assistant coach in his third season. Another brother combo joins the Wildcats this year: senior Mike Holloway and freshman Pat Holloway.

ALL-AMERICAN CANDIDATES
This year's Villanova roster boasts four legitimate All-American Candidates in seniors Chris Bowman and Mike Holloway and two juniors Owen Corso and Brian Marks. Bowman and Corso lead the Wildcat defensive unit while Holloway and Marks will lead the offensive surge. Here is an update of each player's progress during the 2002 season:
