Recap |  Box Score |  Photo Gallery

Turnover Turmoil: Villanova has been plagued by turnovers all season, averaging 16.7 per contest. During the first half against Providence the 'Cats nearly reached that mark with 10 giveaways. Providence also struggled protecting the ball in the first half as they turned the ball over nine times of their own. The Wildcats finished the game with 18 total turnovers while the Friars faired a little better with only 12.

Inside Presence: Freshman Jason Fraser has had his ups and downs so far in his rookie campaign. One aspect of the college game that Fraser has seemed comfortable is on the glass. Against the Friars Fraser grabbed 13 caroms which is his fourth double digit rebound total of the season. To add to his rebounding totals the freshman big man tallied 12 points. The double-double marks the fourth time this season Fraser has posted double digit totals in rebounding and points.

Double Digit 'Cats: Villanova has been consistent all season on the offensive end in terms of player contribution. In eleven games this season, including tonight, at least three Wildcats have reached double digit points. Against Providence the 'Cats set the new precedence of this year as six players recorded at least 10 points. Leading the way for Villanova was Randy Foye with 14 while Derrick Snowden and Jason Fraser each had 12 points. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Ricky Wright and Curtis Sumpter with 11 each, and Gary Buchanan with 10.

Rebounding Prowess: As a team Villanova has out rebounded their opponents 11 times, including tonight against Providence as the 'Cats grabbed 51 boards to the Friars 31. Leading the way for the 'Cats was Jason Fraser who grabbed 13 rebounds and Ricky Wright with 10. The two big men with double digit rebounds marks the first time all year that two 'Cats have reached that plateau in the same game.
