Wildcats Have Record Setting Day at Jack Pyrah Invitational

Complete Results

Villanova, Pa.- Both teams won five events apiece and three Wildcats and a 'Nova relay team all established meet records at the Jack Pyrah Invitational this afternoon.

Senior Robert McDade (Broomall, Pa.), junior Drew Eckman (Oxford, Pa.) and freshman Sean Tully (Syosset, N.Y.) each set meet records to lead the Wildcat men to a strong performance.

McDade's throw of 60'7.25" shattered his own record in the weight throw, which he set last year. McDade also placed third in the shot put (49'5"). Eckman destroyed the previous record in the 800m dash. The junior ran the event in 1:55.45, taking over three seconds off the old time. Tully established his meet record in the 1000m run. The freshman improved the mark by over 3/10ths of a second, from 2:28.43 to 2:28.10.

Junior Andrew Keino (Bon Air, Va.) and senior John Wilsman (Philadelphia, Pa.) were the fourth and fifth Wildcat men to win their events. Keino crossed the line in 14:46.96 to take first in the 5000m and Wilsman placed first in the 500m dash with a time of 1:04.18.

Junior Monique Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica), junior Zita Mezei (Mezokovesd, Hungary), sophomore Arusha McKenzie (Kingston, Jamaica) and freshman Jackie Christie (Matawan, N.J.) along with the 4x400m relay team all won their events on the women's side.

The 4x400m relay team established a meet record, running the event in 3:56.45, almost 3/10ths of a second faster than the previous best. Morgan nearly set a meet record in the 55m dash. She crossed the line in 7.28, just three hundreths of a second off the record.

Mezei won the one mile run with a time of 5:14.81, and McKenzie took first in the 1000m run with a time of 3:03.06. Freshman Emily McMillan (Wall, N.J.) also competed in the event and placed second in 3:03.66. Christie won the triple jump with a jump of 33'9.5".
