WASHINGTON, DC - NJIT sophomore libero Sabrina Baby recorded a match-high 12 digs as host American recorded its 19 win of season in a 3-0 victory on Halloween night at Bender Arena.
The Eagles improve to 19-7 on the season while the Highlanders fall to 11-20.
NJIT women's volleyball team was coming off a perfect 3-0 week as they won the Halloween Classic hosted at NJIT last weekend.
American took the first match by a score of 30-16. The Highlanders fought back in the second and third matches but the Eagles offense was too much to handle as they went on to win 30-26, 30-20.
Brazilian native Baby led the Highlander defense with 12 digs. Junior Kubra Tanrikulu added eight digs while teammate Erica Schultz recorded six.
Leading the attack for the Highlanders was junior Agnieszka Pregowska with eight kills while Baaba Hughes and Katrina Hornstein posted six apiece.
Schultz piled up 23 assists while six different Highlanders added one assist.
For the Eagles, Christina Nash posted a match-high 38 assists. Rubena Sukaj recorded 13 kills as Ivana Cebakova posted a double-double 12 kills and 11 assists.
The Eagles combined for 20 total blocks led by Chelsa Brooks' six block assists and eight service aces led by Sukaj with four.
NJIT plays its next two matches on the road, beginning with a visit to Wagner on Friday, November 2 and then to Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, November 7.
